The PsycAssist project

A brief history

The research project "Computerized, Adaptive and Personalized Assessment of Executive Functions and Fluid Intelligence" is a three-year project funded in 2022 by the Ministry of University and Research (Progetto di Ricerca di Rilevante Interesse Nazionale - PRIN, Prot. 20209WKCLL) and started on 01/06/2022.

The main aims of the project are:

  • To develop a new generation of tests for the adaptive and efficient neuropsychological assessment of certain cognitive functions, such as planning and intelligence;
  • Developing the prototype of an intelligent web-app that administers tests, collects and analyses data and provides customised reports with the results of a multidimensional assessment and some rehabilitation suggestions.

The main novelty of the project is represented by the methodological approaches used to create the assessment tools, such as the knowledge space theory (KST; e.g., Doignon & Falmagne, 2011) and one of its recent generalization, namely the procedural knowledge space theory (PKST; e.g., Stefanutti, 2019). Both of them are mathematical theories used for an efficient psychological and neuropsychological assessment that allows the personalization of the interventions. An updated list of bibliographic references about these theories can be found here.
